Pledge
The Pledge is a public commitment to put good intentions into glorious practice; so there’s always someone there to remind you.
What is a Pledge?
Perfect at the end of a Summit day, or to deepen a Workout, Sprint or Go large, a Pledge gets participants to commit to how they will apply their new skills. A Pledge is run by an expert Coach and lasts 30-45 minutes. It tends to follow the same structure every time.
The Pledge requires each participant to:
- Identify situation(s) when they are likely to benefit from using their new skills and insights.
- Imagine what it will be like when they do apply them, including what will be difficult/put them off and how they are going to work around such distractions.
- Come up with cues to alert them when relevant situations arise so they remember to put what they’ve learnt into practice.
- Agree how they will respond if what they’ve tried doesn’t work as well as they’d hoped.
- Share their personal pledge.
At the end of the Pledge you will have:
- Decided when and how you’re going to apply your newly acquired insights/skills.
- Committed to a plan based on a situation or event you can predict in the coming days (or, at a push, weeks).
- Agreed how you will learn from the experience to continue developing.
