What makes a team tick? And what makes it motor?

Whether a temporary project team, a permanent office-based team, a virtual team or an occasional ‘team’ of ramblers, some teams seem to work better than others. Fortunately, there are ways of getting them all to operate more effectively.

Moving beyond the conventional team models such as formin’, normin’, and stormin’, this workout helps us spot whether we’re being polite, bidding for power or asking why we’re here and helps identify what we need to do to achieve the ultimate esprit de corps (or, team spirit). We will also have a lot of fun in the process.

This workout is most effective when it is run with a group of people who normally work in the same team.

In 90 minutes you will have

  • Discovered how to spot what is going on in a team.
  • Knowledge of the extent to which this is a natural part of the team journey or an unfortunate aberration.
  • Uncovered ways in which you can build team spirit quickly and collectively.
  • Appreciated the value of tensions between competition and collaboration.
  • Gone some way to building your own team spirit.
  • Much to chat and laugh about afterwards.
