Participant reviews
“We must tell her immediately.”
“You must be joking. She’ll go ballistic.”
“She’ll go a lot more ballistic if she finds out later.”
“Not if we’ve recovered the situation.”
“Recovered? It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.”
You know you’re right and you’re determined to stand your ground. The other person feels exactly the same. The result? Arguments, deadlock and, at worst, a fractured relationship. When we’re head to head, how can we keep our relationship intact and still come out on top?
Don’t get mad, get even (and even more than you’d imagined) by learning how to control your emotions when the heat is on. Learn to tackle your opponent with a cool head and, while they’re hurling insults and placing blame, you can concentrate on finding the best strategy to win them round.
In 90 minutes you will have
- Understood the difference between interests and positions and how to delve beneath what people say.
- Realised how you can separate what people say from how they say it and why this can be critical to winning your case.
- Created a conflict map and discovered how to use it.
- Considered a range of different tactics to help win the other person round to your point of view.
- Learnt how to manage your emotions when you get into an argument with high stakes.
- Practised many of these tips and techniques in a safe environment and discovered which ones suit you best (and which may require more effort).
